Pirelli’s “Track To Road” concept refers to technology transfer from track to road. The F1 Pirelli Hot Laps programme is an initiative that showcases this concept. It gives ordinary people a chance to experience what it’s like to be driven flat-out in a supercar by a professional driver on the actual circuit during the race weekend.
We collaborate with F1 and Pirelli to offer customers and VIP guests films of their Hot Laps experience at six Grand Prix events during the season, which can be utilised on social media or for personal use so people can re-watch their experience.
Each session typically involves up to 15 cars from Thursday to Sunday. Our team rigs, checks, and edits all the footage we capture in each car, along with the additional minicam footage on specific cars that manufacturers require. We are also responsible for delivering two celebrity edits each day. We interview and film the celebrities on and off the grid, showcasing their experience with an F1 driver. We have worked with celebrities such as Usain Bolt, Roger Federer, Pep Guardiola, Drew Barrymore, and Michelle Rodriguez.
Due to the nature of the event, we may not know which car or celebrity we will be working with until just a few hours before the event. This can be quite hectic as we must ensure that track cameras are requested on the required cars. Our team edits and delivers up to ninety unique guest films per day on-site, including the celebrity edits, all delivered just a few hours after the track action finishes.
